- 4 c. sifted flour (plain)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1/4 tsp. soda
- 3/4 c. shortening
Directions

1Sift flour once; measure, add baking powder, soda and salt and sift again.

2Cut in shortening; add milk gradually until soft dough is formed.

3Turn on floured board and knead lightly, 2 minutes.

4Roll to desired thickness; cut with floured cutter. Bake in shallow pan in hot oven at 450° for 12 minutes.

5Makes 2 1/2 dozen biscuits.
