- 2 c. self-rising soft wheat flour
- 1/8 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp. butter, melted
Directions

1Combine first 3 ingredients in a large bowl; cut in shortening with a pastry blender until shortening is the size of peas.

2Add buttermilk, stirring with a fork until dry ingredients are moistened.

3Turn dough out onto a heavily floured surface and knead lightly 4 or 5 times.

4Roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness; cut with a round cutter.

5Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 450° for 10 to 12 minutes.

6Brush with butter.
