  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup nonfat buttermilk

Directions

    Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl.

    Cut butter into flour mixture with a fork or pastry blender until crumbly; add buttermilk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened.

    Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 2 or 3 times.

    Pat or roll to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 1 1/2-inch round cutter, and place on a baking sheet.

    Bake at 400° for 15 minutes or until biscuits are golden.
