- 1 envelope active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. lukewarm water
- 2 c. warm buttermilk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 6 c. presifted flour
- 1/4 c. melted butter
Directions

1Soften yeast in water.

2Add buttermilk, sugar, salt and baking soda.

3Mix. Add 3 cups of the flour.

4Beat until smooth.

5Stir in butter.

6Add remaining flour to make a light dough.

7Turn onto lightly floured board.

8Knead for about 8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.

9Place dough in greased bowl, turning dough to grease all surfaces; cover; let rise for about 1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in bulk.
