  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 2 3/4 c. flour (plain)
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 4 Tbsp. rum flavoring

    Cream butter with sugar.

    Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each one.

    Mix soda with buttermilk.

    Sift flour and salt three times before measuring; add to mixture.

    Add flavorings in small amounts at a time.

    Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours in a tube pan lined with wax paper.
