- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1/2 stick margarine
- 1 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Combine buttermilk and soda in 3-quart saucepan; let stand for 20 minutes.

2Add sugar and corn syrup; bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar dissolves.

3When boiling, add margarine and cook to soft ball stage (236°).

4It will be a medium brown in color.

5Cool until lukewarm; beat until mixture loses gloss and thickens.

6Stir in pecans.

7Makes 36 pieces.
