- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3/4 c. chopped pecans
Directions

1Combine first 5 ingredients in a buttered Dutch oven.

2Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches soft ball stage or candy thermometer registers 243°; remove from heat. Cool to 180°.

3Stir in vanilla.

4Beat at high speed with an electric mixer until mixture thickens and begins to lose its gloss.

5Stir in pecans.

6Pour into a buttered 8-inch square pan or baking dish; cool.

7Yield:
