- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

1Be sure to reserve 1 Cup sugar for the egg whites.

2Separate egg yolks and whites.

3Mix all ingredients except whites.

4Beat egg whites and add 1 Cup sugar continuing to beat until the whites are stiff.

5Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the cake batter.

6Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
