Buttermilk Pound Cake

- 2 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. lemon or orange extract
- 3 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Cream together sugar, shortening and butter until light and fluffy.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.

3Stir in vanilla and lemon or orange extract.

4Stir together flour and baking soda.

5Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Pour into greased and floured 10-inch tube pan or Bundt pan.

6Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes.

7Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan and cool on rack.

8Freezes beautifully!
