- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 egg whites
Directions

1Sift dry ingredients together.

2Add butter, shortening, vanilla, 1 cup buttermilk and egg whites.

3Beat 2 minutes.

4Bake in 2 greased and floured 9 x 1 1/2-inch round pans at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

5Cool 10 minutes, then remove.
