  • 3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/4 c. packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. Hershey's butterscotch chips
  • 1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

    Heat oven to 350°.

    Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.

    In a large mixer bowl, beat the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs; blend well.

    In small bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and salt.

    Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing well.

    Stir in butterscotch chips and nuts, if desired. Spread in prepared pan.

    Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and center is set.

    Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
