  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2/3 c. chopped nuts

Directions

    Cream butter and brown sugar; beat egg and add to mixture, stirring to blend.

    Sift flour, measure and resift with baking powder.

    Add to other mixture, then add nuts.

    Turn batter into 8-inch square buttered pan and bake in a slow oven (300°) for 25 minutes, until brown.

    Cut squares.

    Makes 12 or 16 squares.
