- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. water
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- baked pie shell
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 egg whites
Directions

1Scald evaporated milk and water in top of double boiler. Blend brown sugar, flour and salt; add egg yolks and water.

2Stir into hot milk and cook over boiling water for 10 minutes, stirring until thick and smooth.

3Cool and add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell or crumb crust.

4Cover with meringue made by gradually beating sugar into stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in slow oven (325°) about 20 minutes.
