- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup
- 1 3/4 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine brown sugar, water, butter and corn syrup.

2Cook until it forms a hard ball when dropped in cold water.

3Scald milk in top of double boiler.

4Combine flour, cornstarch, granulated sugar, salt and mix thoroughly.

5Add to scalded milk.

6Cook 15 minutes, stirring constantly.

7Add hot butterscotch mixture; stir until smooth.

8Stir a small amount of mixture into beaten egg yolks; return to double boiler and cook a few minutes longer.

9Use 2 egg whites and 1/4 cup white sugar for meringue.
