- 1 baked 9-inch pie crust
- 6 Tbsp. butter
- 2/3 c. boiling water
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 c. milk
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Melt butter in pan over low heat; add brown sugar and cook until foamy.

2Stir in boiling water and remove from heat.

3Mix cornstarch, flour and salt; stir into milk and then add to brown sugar syrup and cook until thick.

4Remove from heat and stir in a little egg yolks, then mix all together and cook 5 minutes.

5Add vanilla and cool.

6Put in pie crust.

7Add meringue.
