  • 3 qt. coarse day-old bread crumbs
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 c. sliced celery
  • 1 c. sliced fresh mushrooms
  • 1 c. coarsely chopped onion
  • 2 tsp. thyme, crumbled
  • 1/2 tsp. sage
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 c. giblet broth or 1 chicken bouillon cube, dissolved in 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 c. chopped parsley
