  • 1 cabbage lrg head, coarsely shredded
  • 1 onion medium, chopped
  • 6 tablespoons butter or margarine, divided
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup undiluted
  • 8 ounces American cheese Processed, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs

Directions

    Cook cabbage in boiling water until tender; drain.

    In large skillet, saute onion in 5 TBL butter until tender.

    Add soup and mix well.

    Add cheese; cook and stir until melted.

    Remove from heat stir in cabbage and seasonings.

    Pour into an ungreased 2 qt casserole dish.

    In small skillet melt remaining butter, stir in bread crumbs.

    Cook and stir until lightly browned.

    Sprinkle over casserole.
