Cabbage Cacciatore

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage (cut 8 wedges)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 lb. fresh ground beef
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic salt
  • 2 c. grated Cheddar or hoop cheese
  • 2 c. cooked rice

Directions

    In a large skillet, brown together ground beef and onion. Drain.

    Using a large oven dish, place ground beef on bottom. Spread cabbage wedges over the meat.

    Mix together the tomato sauce and garlic salt.

    Pour over the cabbage.

    Cover tightly and cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes at 375°.

    Remove from oven.

    Place grated cheese on top.

    Return to oven and melt cheese.

    Bake to lightly brown.

    Serve over bed of cooked rice.
