Cabbage Casserole

  • 3 c. shredded cabbage
  • 4 frankfurters (in chunks)
  • 1/2 c. crackers or bread crumbs
  • 3 red apples (cored and sliced)
  • 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Cook cabbage about 7 minutes in boiling water. Drain. Alternate sliced apples and cooked cabbage in greased casserole. Add franks. Make sauce: Melt butter and stir in cornstarch. Then stir in sugar, water, vinegar and salt. Pour over cabbage mixture. Bake for 1 hour.
