Cabbage Casserole

  • 1 medium cabbage
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground veal or beef
  • 1 c. cooked rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 1 medium carrot, grated
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 4 tsp. chopped chives

    Core and chop the cabbage.

    Place in boiling water for a few minutes.

    Drain.

    Mix together meat, rice, egg, onion, carrot and salt.

    Mix together sugar, tomatoes and chives.

    In a casserole dish, layer cabbage-meat mixture and tomatoes.

    Bake 1 1/4 hours at 350° or can be cooked in a crock-pot on low 8 hours.
