Cabbage Casserole

  • 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 8 oz. sour cream
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 can water chestnuts, sliced
  • 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 c. bread or cracker crumbs

Directions

    Boil cabbage until tender.

    Drain and add salt and pepper to taste.

    Add margarine, sour cream, onion, soup and chestnuts. Put one-half of the mixture in casserole dish.

    Sprinkle one-half of the cheese and repeat layers. Top with crumbs. Sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Bake at 350° until bubbly (about 30 minutes).
