Cabbage Rolls

  • 1 large head cabbage
  • 1 lb. hamburger
  • 1 can tomato sauce (can use 1 can tomato soup)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 c. cooked rice
  • salt to taste
  • 1 medium chopped onion

Directions

    First cook the rice; set aside to cool.

    Set large pot of boiling water (salted) on work place; add cabbage leaves and cover and set aside.

    Combine meat, chopped onion, egg, cooked rice, poultry seasoning, salt and pepper to taste.

    Mix well.

    Drain water from cabbage; roll meat mixture in the leaves and secure with toothpicks.

    Take a large saucepot and add 2 teaspoons oil. Place rolls in pan.

    Take 1 teaspoon brown sugar and add to tomato sauce.

    Pour over rolls. Cover and simmer for about an hour or you can bake in the oven.
