  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 c. cooked brown rice
  • 4 cloves chopped garlic
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 3/4 tsp. ground rosemary
  • 1/2 tsp. red pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp. basil
  • ground pepper
  • 2 medium heads cabbage
  • 1 1/2 to 2-quarts home canned tomatoes

Directions

    Mix the first 12 ingredients together.

    Steam lightly 2 medium heads of cabbage until leaves can be folded without breaking. Pack the mixture in the leaves.

    Cook at a moderate simmer for about 1 1/4 hours or until done.

    The juice will come from 1 1/2 to 2-quarts home canned tomatoes.
