- 1 ham bone, boned
- 3 mushrooms
- 2 potatoes
- 2 carrots
- 2 1/2 c. sauerkraut, drained
- 1 medium chopped onion
- 1 tsp. caraway seed
- 1/2 onion, minced
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 3 Tbsp. bacon fat
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions

1Slice mushrooms into strips, cut carrots and potatoes into pieces.

2Combine ham, mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, sauerkraut, onion and

3caraway seed into 8 cups water.

4Simmer for 1 hour. Brown the minced onion in bacon fat, thicken with flour.

5Add to soup, stirring constantly . Add sauerkraut juice .

6Simmer another 15 minutes.

7By this time, the meat has fallen off the meat bone. Remove the bone and serve.
