- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 2/3 c. water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 15 whole cloves
- 1 to 2 tsp. red food coloring
Directions

1Boil mixture until it forms a hard crackling in water (candy thermometer reaches 300°).

2Do not stir after sugar is dissolved. Dip apples in mixture.
