  • 5 to 7 lb. sugar
  • 1/2 pt. white Karo syrup
  • red food coloring (enough to color well)

    Use a large pot.

    Mix sugar, coloring and syrup with water; enough water to dissolve sugar.

    Use thermometer.

    Let candy cook until thermometer reaches 275°.

    Using skewers or sticks, dip apples into candy on low heat.

    Use margarine on tabletop or countertop.
  7. 7
    Place apples down with skewers up, let them cool. Wrap with wax paper or Saran Wrap.
