  • 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 teaspoons Red Food Coloring

Directions

    1. Wash and dry apples. Remove stems. Push the forks 1/4 of the way into the stem end of each apple.
  2. 2
    2. Lightly grease a cookie sheet.
  3. 3
    3. In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil. Add lemon juice and food coloring. Heat to 280 F (using a candy thermometer). This should take about 15-20 minutes. Instead of using a thermometer you can test the temperature by dropping a small amount of syrup into a bowl of cold water. It forms a hard ball when it's ready. Remove the candy from the heat.
  4. 4
    4. Holding onto the fork, quickly dip each apple into the candy and swirl it around until it is evenly coated. Allow extra candy to drip off over the pan.
  5. 5
    5. Place candy apples on the prepared sheet to harden.
  6. 6
    Bon apple!
