- 24 caramels
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 4 c. sliced, peeled apples
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/3 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. chopped chestnuts
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- pastry for 1 crust 9-inch pie
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Roll pastry to 12-inch circle on lightly floured surface.

3Place in 9-inch pie plate.

4Turn under edges. Melt caramels with water in heavy saucepan over low heat.

5Stir frequently until smooth.

6Spoon sliced apples into crust.

7Top with caramel sauce.

8Mix flour, sugar and cinnamon with margarine until mixture crinkles.

9Sprinkle this and walnuts over apples. Bake 40 to 45 minutes.
