Caramel Candy Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 1/3 c. milk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 c. oatmeal
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. butter Crisco or margarine
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 c. nuts (pecans)

Directions

    Melt caramels in milk (in microwave or on top of stove).

    Mix flour, oats, brown sugar, soda and salt.

    Cut in margarine or Crisco.

    Add egg.

    Press 1/2 to 1/3 mixture into the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake crust at 350° for 10 minutes. Remove from oven.

    Turn oven off.

    Sprinkle chips and nuts on top. Drizzle caramel over chips and nuts.

    Sprinkle remaining crust mixture over top of the caramel.

    Cool completely; cut into bars.
