- 2 c. light brown sugar
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 1/2 lb. margarine
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 6 qt. freshly popped popcorn
Directions

1In a 2 1/2-quart pan, combine first 5 ingredients.

2Heat to boiling, stirring constantly.

3Boil rapidly to hard ball stage (250°).

4Remove from heat, stir in soda quickly.

5Stir thoroughly and pour over popcorn.

6Stir gently until all kernels are coated. Bake for 1 hour, stirring 2 or 3 times while in the oven.

7Turn out onto waxed paper, spread apart and cool.

8Store in tightly covered container.

9Makes 6 quarts.
