- 32 caramels
- 2/3 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. flour
- 3/4 c. uncooked oats
- 1 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. oleo
Directions

1Melt caramels with evaporated milk in heavy saucepan over low heat.

2Stir together flour, oats, baking soda and salt.

3Cut in oleo until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4Reserve 1 cup.

5Press remaining crumb mixture on bottom of greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes.

6Sprinkle chocolate pieces over baked crust.

7Spread caramel mixture evenly over chocolate pieces. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over top.

8Bake 20 minutes longer. Chill until cooled, about 2 hours.

9Cut into bars.
