  • 1/2 c. butter, melted
  • 1 c. firmly packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. milk or cream
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • additional milk or cream (as might be needed)

Directions

    Melt margarine or butter.

    Blend in brown sugar and salt. Cook over low heat 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk and continue stirring until mixture comes to a boil.

    Remove from heat.

    Gradually blend in confectioners sugar.

    Add vanilla and mix well.
