- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 slightly beaten egg
- 1 stick oleo or butter
Directions

1Place 1/2 cup sugar in iron skillet over low heat.

2Mix in saucepan 2 cups sugar, milk, egg and oleo or butter.

3Cook and stir this mixture over low heat until oleo or butter melts.

4Increase heat and cook until it boils rapidly.

5(Scorches easily.) Meanwhile, the sugar in the skillet has begun to melt.

6When it is a light brown, pour it into the other boiling mixture, stirring constantly.

7Cook to soft ball stage.

8Add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until consistency to spread.

9(I use this on 1-2-3-4 cake layers.)
