- 2 sticks butter
- 3 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 c. sugar (to melt)
- tiny pinch of salt
Directions

1Mix sugar (3 cups), flour and salt; add milk and butter. Bring to a boil.

2Add the 1/2 cup sugar which has been caramelized in a small heavy pan.

3Cook to soft ball stage.

4Add vanilla. Beat.

5If icing gets too stiff, add a few drops of milk.
