Caramel Icing

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla

Directions

    Mix 3 cups sugar and flour, then add milk; mix well.

    Add margarine.

    (I cook this in an 8 or 9-inch iron skillet.)

    Let this come to a boil.

    Put the 1/4 cup sugar in another small skillet. Be careful browning this sugar.

    When it is brown, take the other skillet off the heat, add the browned sugar and cook until a soft ball forms in a cup of cold water.
