  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Mix brown sugar and milk.

    Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then boil without stirring to the soft-ball stage (238° on candy thermometer).

    Add butter.

    Remove the icing until it is thick and creamy.

    If the icing becomes too thick, thin it with a little cream.

    Makes enough to frost 2 (9-inch) layers.
