  • 1 3/4 c. oats (quick or old fashioned), uncooked
  • 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) margarine, melted
  • 1 c. chocolate chips
  • 1 (12.5 oz.) jar (1 c.) caramel ice cream topping
  • 1/4 c. all-purpose flour

    Heat oven to 350°.

    Grease 13 x 9-inch pan.

    Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, soda and salt; mix well.

    Stir in margarine. Reserve 1 cup and press remaining onto bottom of pan.

    Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light brown; cool 10 minutes.

    Top with chocolate pieces.
