  • 2/3 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • dash of ground cloves
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 2 c. pears, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces (about 4 medium)
  • 3/4 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c. boiling water
  • ice cream or whipped cream
