Caramel Pecan Pie

- 36 Kraft caramels
- 1/4 c. water
- 1/4 c. margarine
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 1 c. pecan halves
- 9-inch unbaked pastry shell
Directions

1Melt caramels with water and margarine in covered double boiler, or in a saucepan over low heat.

2Stir occasionally until smooth.

3Combine sugar, salt, vanilla and eggs.

4Gradually add caramel sauce; stir in chopped pecans.

5Pour into pie shell.

6Add the pecan halves on top.

7Bake at 350° for 45 minutes, more or less.

8Pie filling will appear very soft; firm as cooks and as cools.
