- 3 egg yolks
- 1 1/2 c. milk
- 1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1 baked pie shell
- meringue topping
Directions

1Brown (caramelize) 1 cup sugar in heavy iron skillet over medium heat.

2Shake skillet to move the sugar around until it is bubbly and caramel colored.

3Combine beaten egg yolks and milk. Combine 1/4 cup sugar and flour and add to milk and eggs.

4Pour mixture into skillet with caramelized sugar.

5Cook until thick, stirring constantly.

6Add vanilla and butter.

7Pour into pie shell. Spread meringue on hot filling, sealing well to edges of the crust. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
