- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 heaping Tbsp. cornstarch
- 3 eggs, separated
- 1 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 Tbsp. butter
Directions

1Put 1/2 cup sugar in iron skillet.

2Over medium heat, melt sugar (do not stir, just shake the skillet).

3When browned, add 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil.

4Mix other ingredients (except egg whites and vanilla).

5Add melted sugar and cook, stirring constantly, until thick.

6Add vanilla and put in a baked pie shell. Beat egg whites with 4 tablespoons sugar until stiff.

7Put on pie filling and bake until brown.
