Caramel Pound Cake

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 sticks butter or margarine
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 8 oz. pkg. Philadelphia cream cheese
  • 3 c. cake flour

Directions

    Preheat oven at 350°.

    Grease and flour large pound cake pan. Blend softened butter, Philadelphia cream cheese, vanilla and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Next, add sifted flour with salt.

    Mix at medium speed until well blended.

    If mix becomes too thick, you can add milk, a tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is obtained.

    Bake at 350° for 1 1/2 hours or until done.

    Sometimes what I'll do at the end of the scheduled baking time, if the cake still isn't done, reduce the heat to 325° and continue to bake until done.

    Allow to cool about 10 minutes before you remove cake from pan.
