- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
- 1 c. grated raw carrots
- 1 c. seedless raisins
Directions

1Combine butter and sugar, beating until light and fluffy.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

3Combine flour, baking powder, salt and spices.

4Stir into creamed mixture. Fold carrots and raisins into batter.

5Spoon batter into a greased 13 1/2 x 9 1/2 x 2-inch pan or Pyrex dish, spreading evenly.

6Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until cake tests done.

7Cool in pan.

8Spread cake with a thin layer of lemon frosting.

9Cut into 1 1/2 x 1 3/4-inch bars after frosting has set.

10Yields 42 bars.
