- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 2 1/4 teaspoons sherry or Marsala
- water Tepid, to mix
- 1 quart canola oil
- 24 ounces honey
- 1 pound roasted almonds cut in half
- 1/2 pound dark chocolate chips good quality
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
Directions

1Put all the dry ingredients together in a bowl or on a board, and make a well in the middle.

2Put in the shortening, eggs, Sherry or Marsala and, if needed a little warm water.

3Mix until you are able to form a ball.

4Knead until the dough is smooth and place it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour covered with plastic wrap.

5You can also mix the dough in a food processor.
