  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 2 c. warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 c. shredded Co-Jack cheese

Directions

    In a large bowl, stir yeast and water together. Add sugar, salt and shortening. Stir until dissolved. Add flour and beat 2 minutes with spoon.

    Cover batter with greased wax paper.

    Let rise in warm place until triple in bulk (35 to 40 minutes). Beat with spoon for 1/2 minute.

    Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart casserole. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 55 to 60 minutes. Sprinkle top with cheese before baking. Cool before slicing.
