Celery Almondine

  • 4 c. chopped celery
  • 1 large thinly sliced onion
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs
  • 1/2 to 1 c. sharp cheese, grated
  • 1/2 c. slivered almonds
  • salt and pepper

Directions

    Cook celery and onion in salted, boiling water until just barely done.

    Put in 1 1/2-quart casserole.

    Saute almonds in butter, sprinkle over mixture.

    Top with shredded cheese and buttered bread crumbs which have been lightly tossed together. Bake in preheated 375° oven until hot and bubbly, about 20 minutes. Serves 6 to 8. (This may be prepared early in day and baked just before serving.)
