Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoons Salt
  • 1-1/4 cup Cheddar Cheese Cheddar
  • 1/4 cups Chives
  • 8 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 cup Buttermilk

Directions

  1. 1
Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2
In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, and salt. Stir in cheese and chives.
  3. 3
Cut in butter with a pastry cutter or 2 forks. Slowly stir in buttermilk. Dough is ready when it begins to pull away from the sides of the bowl. Do not over mix. You want the dough to be stiff.
  4. 4
Flour a cutting board and dump biscuit dough from bowl onto it. Knead batter for several minutes.
  5. 5
Work the dough into a square that is about 11/2 inch thick. Use a round cookie cutter cut as many biscuits as you can.
  6. 6
Place the biscuits on the sheet pan. Place in oven and bake until tops are golden brown and crisp, about 10 to 15 minutes.
  7. 7
Sprinkle with more finely sliced fresh chives to garnish if desired.
