- 1 2/3 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
Directions

1Pour flour in bowl.

2Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3Stir in cheese.

4Add buttermilk; stir just until dough clings together.

5On lightly floured surface, knead dough lightly until easy to handle.

6Roll into a 12-inch circle.

7Cut into 8 wedges.

8Begin at wide end of wedge and roll toward point.

9Place biscuits, point side down, on a greased baking sheet.

10Bake at 450° for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden brown.

11Serve warm.
