- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. Crisco
- 1 c. (4 oz.) sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
- 3/4 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp. soda
Directions

1Combine flour and shortening in a medium bowl.

2Cut in shortening until mixture is coarse.

3Stir in cheese.

4Combine buttermilk, mustard and soda.

5Pour into flour mixture and stir until mixed.

6Turn onto floured board; knead 3 or 4 times.

7Roll out and cut into biscuits.

8Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.

9Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes.

10Yield:
