Cheese Bread Patties

  • 7 1/8 cups white bread day-old, cut into cubes
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 3/4 cups cheese Graukase, or a very strong cheese
  • 7 1/16 tablespoons cheese herb
  • 1 bunch chives
  • 1 leek
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • salt

Directions

    Soak the bread in the milk.

    Chop the onion finely with the chives and the leek.

    Saute the onion mixture in a saucepan with the butter.

    Cut the cheeses into very small pieces and combine with the sauteed onion mixture and the soaked bread.

    Shape this mixture into flattened patties and place them in a hot non-stick pan to brown on both sides.

    Next, cook the patties in simmering water for approximately 8 minutes.

    Serve the patties with additional grated cheese and a green salad.
